ISLAMABAD: French President Emmanuel Macron has commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States and help bring both sides to the negotiating table.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, President Macron telephoned the prime minister and extended special congratulations on Pakistan’s diplomatic role in promoting a ceasefire and dialogue.
He also expressed best wishes for the success of the upcoming peace talks expected to be held in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the French president for his support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region through diplomatic engagement.
During the conversation, both leaders also expressed deep concern over the ongoing situation in Lebanon and emphasized the urgent need to end violence and restore peace.
The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact as diplomatic efforts continue to de-escalate tensions in the region.
