ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Iran ceasefire talks moved forward as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday. The leaders discussed the recent ceasefire, upcoming negotiations, and regional developments during a call lasting around 45 minutes.
According to official sources, the conversation took place in a friendly and positive atmosphere. Both sides exchanged views on key regional issues and agreed to stay in close contact.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Iranian president on the ceasefire. He appreciated Iran’s leadership for showing wisdom and flexibility in supporting peace efforts.
During the call, both leaders also discussed the expected Iran-US talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad this week. The development is seen as an important step toward reducing tensions in the region.
The prime minister also thanked the Iranian leadership for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He expressed respect for Iran’s Supreme Leader and acknowledged the country’s constructive role.
In response, President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts. He appreciated Islamabad’s role in supporting the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
The Iranian president also confirmed that his country will participate in the upcoming negotiations in Islamabad. He extended good wishes to the people of Pakistan.
At the end of the conversation, both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing communication and cooperation on regional matters.
