Macron praises Pakistan’s role in Iran-US ceasefire efforts

ISLAMABAD: French President Emmanuel Macron has commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States and help bring both sides to the negotiating table.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, President Macron telephoned the prime minister and extended special congratulations on Pakistan’s diplomatic role in promoting a ceasefire and dialogue.

He also expressed best wishes for the success of the upcoming peace talks expected to be held in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the French president for his support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region through diplomatic engagement.

During the conversation, both leaders also expressed deep concern over the ongoing situation in Lebanon and emphasized the urgent need to end violence and restore peace.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact as diplomatic efforts continue to de-escalate tensions in the region.

Iran announces complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has announced a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iranian media, there is a threat of tunnels in some parts of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization has determined alternative routes. The Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization has said that cooperation with the Revolutionary Guards will be required to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the American journal has said that Iran has decided to allow 12 ships to pass through Hormuz daily. Tolls will be collected from the ships and Iran has informed the negotiators in this regard.
