LAHORE: A major change has been made in the arms license renewal system.

Arms licenses will now have to be renewed every five years on the same date on which the license was issued or renewed.
In the old system, the arms license issued by the federal government expired on December 31 and then had to be renewed. Now this system has been changed.

According to the NADRA spokesperson, a new system for renewing arms licenses has been introduced in the federal government for the convenience of citizens on the instructions of the Ministry of Interior, under which the license will remain valid for five years after the date of issue or renewal so that citizens can benefit from the full five-year period.

Under the old system, the validity of all licenses expired on December 31 every year, and citizens could not benefit from the full five-year period. Thanks to the complete digitization of the arms license system, a major problem of citizens has been removed.
