May 9 case: Shah Mehmood acquitted, Yasmin Rashid & others jailed for 10 years

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has sentenced the PTI leadership to 10 years in prison in the May 9 cases.

The convicted PTI leadership includes Yasimin Rashid, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudry, and others.

Moreover, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been acquitted in the case.

The court also ordered the arrest and production of four accused who were declared as absconders during the trial.

The absconders include Farooq Anjum, Habib Ahmed, Arsalan and Akbar Khan.

A total of 25 accused were named in the case, while the statements of 56 prosecution witnesses were recorded.

The case was registered at the Race Course police station, in which it was alleged that the accused broke the security cameras of the Club Chowk GOR Gate, smashed the windows, broke the police wireless, damaged government property and attacked police personnel.

The PTI leaders were accused of inciting the workers to revolt and riot during the May 9 incidents.
