LAHORE: DG NDMA has predicted 22 to 26 percent more rainfall in the 2026 monsoon. In a statement issued by DG NDMA, it was said that the intensity of the weather is increasing in Pakistan, there will be 22 to 26 percent more rainfall in the 2026 monsoon, 3.1 million people have been shifted to safer places this year, and the rain will decrease in June or July.
DG NDMA further said that many works have to be done by the federation and the provinces, recommendations have been made for the water coming into the rivers, under early warning, we give warnings to the provinces 6 to 8 months in advance, if we talk about weeks, the provinces will be able to take better measures.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a short-term plan to prevent the harmful effects of climate change, and directed to start implementing the plan immediately. He said that preparations should be made now to avoid the damages of the upcoming monsoon. He said that a coordinated plan should be made with the provincial governments regarding climate change.
