ISLAMABAD: In a technological advancement, the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the launching of a new National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA) mobile app that will completely replace the Pak ID web portal that will be permanently shut down from January 17.

The rationale behind launching the mobile application is to offer better and safer facilities for people, especially Pakistanis living abroad, who had difficulties in availing the web portal for uploading fingerprints and other required documents.

Naqvi said that fake identity documents were being produced, much of it input into fake websites via fraudulent people and all concerned notions of conveying and updating citizen’s private information led to the termination of the website.

The new mobile app has been significantly upgraded so as to furnish better services; all NADRA-related services, including but not limited to the issue of ID cards, NICOP, POC, B-Forms, and FRCs, will be made available through it. Citizens will be able to complete their documentation processes without leaving their homes.

In addition to this, three new regional offices are being planned to be established in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan, which will be functional by March 31. These will enable better communication between NADRA officials and citizens, and would improve service delivery to remote areas.

The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs comprise various facets of the anti-piracy campaigns, while NADRA together with other organizations ensures that punitive action is taken against the offending elements.

The mobile app will make a monumental welcome move towards bringing secure and convenient services to the citizens, and it will also make a marked difference in the way the people avail themselves of NADRA services.

With the app, citizens will be able to apply for various identity documents, track their applications, and receive updates on the status of their applications without leaving their mobile devices.
