National Assembly approves key Media and Real Estate bills

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly session passed bills related to media and real estate, but the session was adjourned due to lack of quorum.

The National Assembly session began on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah, in which various important legislative stages were completed. During the session, the Centers of Excellence Amendment Bill 2026 was presented in the National Assembly, while the Federal Government Real Estate Management Authority Bill 2026 was also presented in the house.

Both government bills were presented in the house by Minister of State Wajih Qamar. The report of the Standing Committee on the Senior Citizens of the Regional Capital of Islamabad Amendment Bill 2025 was presented in the session. In addition, a motion to consider the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025 was passed, after which the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority Amendment Bill was passed by the National Assembly. This bill was presented in the house by Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh.

Similarly, the Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation Amendment Bill 2025 was also passed by the National Assembly, which was presented by Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. During the session of the National Assembly, the Amendment Bill regarding the conditions of employment of newspaper employees was also passed by the National Assembly, which was also presented in the House by Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh.

During the session, JUI-F Member of National Assembly Alia Kamran pointed out the quorum in the House, on which the Deputy Speaker directed the counting of the members. After the counting was completed, the quorum in the House was found to be incomplete, due to which the proceedings of the session were suspended until the quorum was completed. Later, the session of the National Assembly was adjourned until 5 pm on Monday due to the quorum not being met.
