LAHORE: The Punjab government has implemented a modern and evidence-based traffic challan system across the province, including Lahore, under which every traffic challan will be issued with clear evidence of video and photos.

According to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, now traffic police officials will issue challans to citizens through One App and video and photo will be saved at the time of every violation. All this evidence will be part of the digital record so that complete evidence is available in case of any complaint or objection.

He said that after the challan is issued, citizens will receive an alert SMS from 8070, which will also include a link with the details of the fine. Citizens will be able to view the video or photos of their traffic violation by opening this link, which will reduce the scope of any misunderstanding or dispute regarding the challan.

DIG Traffic said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, this evidence-based challaning system has been formally implemented across the province. This modern system will significantly reduce unnecessary arguments and arguments between the traffic police and citizens, while the implementation of the law will also be more effective.

According to traffic police officials, the new system will save time for both citizens and the traffic police, increase the transparency of records and enable strong legal action against those who do not pay challans.

Officials say that the use of modern technology will make the implementation of traffic laws more effective and reliable.
