ISLAMABAD: Travelling on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) has become more expensive after the National Highway Authority (NHA) approved a 7 percent increase in toll charges, effective from July 5, 2026.

This hike in toll charges shall be applicable to all vehicle types traveling on one of the most heavily used motorway highways in Pakistan, and it shall continue until April 23, 2027.

As per information from the NHA, this increase in the cost has been imposed through the concession agreement between Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (MORE) company, which is a subsidiary of FWO.

Under the new tariff structure, motorists will pay the following toll charges:

Vehicle Category New Toll Fee (Rs)
Cars, Jeeps & Taxis 1,430
Wagons 2,390
Coasters 3,350
Buses 4,770
Trucks (2 & 3 Axle) 6,210
Articulated Trucks 7,980

This increase is also applicable to heavy commercial transport vehicles, in which two- and three-axle trucks have to pay Rs6,210, and articulated trucks will have to pay Rs7,980 per passage.

The revised toll rate per kilometre for cars, jeeps, and taxis has been set at Rs3.98; for wagons, Rs6.68; for coasters, Rs9.34; for buses, Rs13.32; for two- and three-axle trucks, Rs17.33; and for articulated trucks, Rs22.29.

This comes amid the fact that there has been an increase in the cost of fuels, which has increased the burden of travel expenses on commuters and transporters. Travelers have been using carpooling and public transport to save on transportation expenses.

NHA has also informed motorists and transporters about this revised toll system applicable on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway.
