ISLAMABAD: The government has written a letter to Chief Whip Aamir Dogar objecting to the name of Mahmood Khan Achakzai proposed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.

PTI has decided to stick to the name of Mahmood Khan Achakzai for the opposition leader.

Aamir Dogar said in this regard that the letter will be replied to after consultation with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar.

However, our name of Mahmood Khan Achakzai for the opposition leader is final.

Aamir Dogar said that the name of Mahmood Khan Achakzai was given after consultation with the founder of PTI.

Mahmood Achakzai will not be changed for the opposition leader. The seat of the opposition leader has been vacant for the last two months, during which the 27th Amendment was passed.

He said that Mahmood Khan is constitutionally part of the assembly, and there is no justification for objection to his name.

This is our constitutional right; the government should not delay it. The founder of Tehreek-e-Insaf has been consulted on this name, and there will be no further consultation now.

Aamir Dogar said that the letter from the National Assembly Secretariat will be responded to.
