ISLAMABAD: The flights between Pakistan and Iran were resumed successfully as a major move towards the normalization of relations in the aviation sphere.
Flights from Tehran reached Islamabad on Thursday as the first commercial flight from Tehran since the closure of flights after a two-month ban, which was caused by the escalation of tensions because of the US and Israeli attacks on Iran that started on February 28. The aircraft was filled with passengers from the Iranian capital.
The officials announced that there is a full resumption of the flights between Islamabad and Tehran in both directions as a very important step to revive the transportation route for passengers, enterprises, and separated families.
Moreover, the flights in Iran have returned to the routine in several airports. According to the Tasnim News Agency, the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran restarted operations to 15 international destinations.
Iran resumed flights to 15 major international destinations, including Istanbul, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Bangkok, Muscat, Erbil, Kabul, Moscow, Doha, Baghdad, Najaf, Medina, and Yerevan.
According to Ramin Kashef-Azar, head of the airport company, all the processes associated with the entrance and exit of passengers at the two terminals are going on without any problems.
The Iranian airspace was totally closed post-strikes that occurred towards the end of February, causing the cessation of all civilian air travel. With flights now resuming operations, there is a definite opening up of the sky over this part of the world.
