LAHORE: Pakistan Railways management has provided the revised working hours for reservations offices in the country during the holy month of Ramadan.
New timings will be observed until the 15th of Ramadan. According to the notification, the morning shift time will extend from 07:30 hrs to 12:30 hrs, while the evening shift will run from 12:30 hrs to 17:30 hrs.
Juma prayers will be observed on Fridays between 12: 30 hrs and 14:00 hrs. However, single-shift reservation offices will continue to operate with previous timings.
The purpose of this adjustment is to facilitate the passengers and staff during the fasting month while providing a smooth running of operations with Ramadan schedules.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has also advised the termination of Sir Syed Express operations due to dwindling revenues. The train, which was on a Karachi-to-Rawalpindi route, had been awarded to the private sector.
In other news, Pakistan Railways has initiated the Shah-Hussain Express between Karachi and Lahore, which is a great relief for travelers between the two cities.
The train will leave Karachi Cantonment Station at 19:30 hrs and will reach Lahore at 14:15 hrs, passing through major cities like Hyderabad, Rohri, and Bahawalpur. The train will now operate in the opposite direction, starting from Lahore at 19:00 hrs and arriving in Karachi at 14:05 hrs.
