Pakistan to witness Pink Moon on April 13

The moon is named after pink wildflowers, called phlox, which bloom in the early spring, however, it won’t appear pink.

Around 9:08 p.m. UTC, the full moon is expected to rise in Karachi. It will be visible all night long, rising in the east at sunset and setting in the west in the morning.

Just after sunset is the ideal moment to see the Pink Moon because of the “moon illusion,” a natural optical phenomenon that makes the moon appear larger and brighter close to the horizon.

Its appearance aids in determining Easter’s date, which this year is April 20. The Flower Moon, the next full moon, is scheduled for May 12, 2025.

This year, there will be 12 full moons in total, along with two total lunar eclipses and three supermoons, one of which will be visible in Karachi from September 7 to 8.
