ISLAMABAD (Zubair Kasuri): In the wake of devastating floods across Punjab, the Pakistani government and armed forces have launched a coordinated effort to restore normalcy, with a primary focus on the revered Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.

Under the direct supervision of Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a large-scale operation was initiated to clear the Gurdwara’s courtyards, which had been submerged under 12 to 15 feet of floodwater.

Initial rescue missions were conducted by boat to reach stranded individuals. Authorities have confirmed that the extensive drainage process is now complete, and cleaning crews are working to remove the thick layers of mud and silt left behind.

Officials anticipate the full restoration of the shrine’s spiritual and cultural splendor within three to four days.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, toured the flood-hit regions of Punjab, including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur.

He received a comprehensive briefing on the current situation, ongoing relief work, and preparations for future rainfall.

Field Marshal Munir commended the tireless and coordinated efforts of the troops and civil administration in their rescue and relief operations.
The Army Chief also met with members of the affected Sikh community, promising that all religious sites damaged by the floods, especially Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, would be restored as a top priority.

He underscored the state’s responsibility to protect minorities and their places of worship, affirming that Pakistan would uphold this duty without fail.

The Sikh community extended a warm welcome to the Army Chief, expressing their profound gratitude for the swift assistance provided by both the civil administration and the armed forces during the natural calamity.
