Pilgrims to receive Rs100, 000 each after recounting: Details inside

ISLAMABAD: Religious Affairs Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain told the National Assembly on Thursday that the re-counting is going on in the ministry and every Haji is likely to get Rs 1 lakh back.

As per the details, answering various supplementary questions during the question interval, the minister said that the Hajj expenses this year are already Rs 100,000 less than last year. He further said that during the current Hajj, relief of around Rs 35,000 has also been given to each Hajj in air fare.

The federal minister clarified that instead of 1400 Moavineen-e-Hujjaj, only 600 Moavineen were selected for Hajj 2024 through NTS test.

He said that due to restrictions imposed by India, the arrival of Sikh pilgrims on the Kartarpur Corridor has decreased. He said that there is no obstacle from Pakistan. He added that infrastructure is already in place on the Kartarpur corridor to receive 5,000 Sikh pilgrims per day.

He said that the ministry has made extensive arrangements from transportation to security to facilitate Sikh pilgrims on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary every year.

Hajj is a holy pilgrimage and one of the fifth pillar of Islam. Every year, millions of Muslims around the world visit and perform the Hajj in Mecca, modern-day Saudi Arabia.
