PLA Army Commander & Pakistan CGS strengthen military ties in key Beijing meeting

BEIJING: A meeting was held between General Li Qiaoming, Commander of the PLA Army, and lieutenant General Muhammad Avais Dastgir, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Pakistan Army at the PLA Army Headquarters in Beijing, here on Monday.

As per the details, the two commanders discussed global and regional security dynamics and explored ways to strengthen military-to-military ties.

During the meeting, Lt Gen Dastgir expressed condolence over the recent terrorist attack in Karachi that claimed Chinese lives, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the security of Chinese nationals in the country. Gen Li acknowledged Pakistan Army’s efforts in this regard and pledged continued support.

The two sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in counterterrorism, military education, training, and technology and formalize mechanisms for regular exchanges and sharing of experiences to enhance regional security.
