PMD forecasts rains across Pakistan from June 04; Details inside

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rains and thundershowers in the upper parts of the country from June 4 to June 7, here on Monday.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of westerly winds in the upper and central parts of the country. This can continue for the next three days. The wet spell will help reduce the intensity of the current heatwave this week.

Under the influence of this weather system, intermittent rain, wind, and thundershowers are likely in some parts of Pakistan from June 4 to June 7.

Gilgit-Baltistan/Kashmir weather update

Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) and Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from June 03 (evening or night) to June 08, with occasional gaps.

Rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)

Duststorms and thunderstorms with rain are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, and Kurram from June 4 (evening or night) to June 8, with occasional gaps.

Weather forecasts in Punjab and Islamabad

Duststorms and thunderstorms with rain are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali from June 4 to June 6, with occasional gaps. Duststorms and thunderstorms with isolated rains are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, and Layyah from June 5 (evening or night) to June 7.

Balochistan Weather

Duststorms and thunderstorms with isolated rains are expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Sherani, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, and Barkhan from June 5 (evening or night) to June 7.

Sindh Weather

Duststorms and gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana on June 6 and July 7.

Possible Impacts & Advice:

Duststorms, windstorms, and lightning may affect daily routines, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. Heatwave conditions are likely to subside in the country during the forecast period.
