PML-N Nominates Malik Ahmad Khan & Zaheer Channar for Punjab Assembly Speaker and Deputy Roles

Lahore: Malik Ahmad Khan and Zaheer Iqbal Channar have been nominated by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker, respectively, in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. This move demonstrates the party’s determination to play a significant role in the assembly’s proceedings.

Additionally, the Sunni Ittehad Council, with the support of PTI-backed independent winners, has put forth Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar for the speaker position and Moin Riaz Qureshi for the deputy speaker role. This indicates the council’s intention to actively engage in legislative matters and advocate for its interests within the assembly.

The stage is set for a crucial election as preparations unfold, generating anticipation among lawmakers and observers. The outcome will not only determine the leadership of the assembly but also shape the legislative agenda moving forward.

Earlier today, the Punjab Assembly witnessed the swearing-in of 313 members in a delayed session. Following the oath-taking ceremony, it was announced that the secret ballot polling for the speaker and deputy speaker positions would be conducted on Saturday. Consequently, the session was adjourned until 4pm on Saturday.
