PML-N releases final list of candidates for 37 AJK assembly constituencies

ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has released its final list of candidates for 37 constituencies ahead of the 2026 General Elections for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.

According to a party statement, the candidates were approved by the PML-N Parliamentary Board. The list includes nominees for constituencies across Mirpur, Bhimber, Kotli, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and refugee seats reserved for Jammu and Kashmir migrants.

Among the key nominations, Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry will contest from LA-02 Chakswari, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed from LA-03 Mirpur City, Waqar Ahmad Noor from LA-05 Barnala, and Chaudhry Tariq Farooq from LA-07 Bhimber City.

In the Bagh region, Mushtaq Ahmad Minhas has been nominated for LA-15 Central Bagh, while Sardar Mir Akbar Khan will contest from LA-16 Eastern Bagh. Former Prime Minister of AJK Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan has been awarded the party ticket for LA-32 Chikar.

The party has also nominated Shah Ghulam Qadir for both LA-25 Upper Neelum and LA-26 Lower Neelum constituencies. Other notable candidates include Syed Iftikhar Ali Gillani from LA-29 Muzaffarabad City and Dr. Mustafa Bashir Abbasi from LA-30 Hattian Dupatta.

For refugee constituencies, PML-N has fielded candidates across various Jammu and Valley seats, including Nasir Hussain Dar, Chaudhry Muhammad Ismail, Maryam Javed, Zeeshan Ali, and Raja Muhammad Siddique.

The party leadership has directed all nominated candidates to intensify their election campaigns and strengthen public outreach efforts. Political activity in Azad Kashmir has accelerated as the deadline for submission of nomination papers is set for June 19.

Ayaz Ahmed from Khui Ratta, Raja Faisal Azad from LA-14 Dhirkot issued tickets
