ISLAMABAD: The Pollen count in Islamabad has risen to 17,471 per cubic meter of air and represents a serious threat to those with allergies.
According to the data released on Thursday by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on pollen count, H-8, Islamabad had the highest total pollen count of 17,471 after having been at 10,494 on Wednesday.
Other areas also reported a high pollen count: 6648 in G-6, 6011 in E-8, and 3514 in F-10. Some of the prime pollen types present in Islamabad are Paper Mulberry, Acacia, Eucalyptus, Pines, Grasses, Cannabis, Dandelion, and Alternaria. People allergic to these pollens are generally affected a lot during this time of the year.
Paper Mulberry has the highest pollen count, at 17,233, rated as “Very High”. The next highest counts were Cannabis 52 (High), Grasses 92 (High), Alternaria 21 (Low), Pines 73 (Moderate), Acacia 0, Eucalyptus 03 (Low), Dandelion 03 (Low).
A timely reminder that they need to take precautions against possible complications for those who are allergic to these pollen types. The PMD gives daily updates on pollen counts, available on its website or the helpline.
