LAHORE: The Punjab government has formally announced a public holiday across the province on Saturday, Rabi-ul-Awal 12th, to commemorate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
According to the official notification, all government offices will be closed on this day.
However, the civil secretariat, which is already closed on Saturdays as is customary, will celebrate the holiday as normal.
Hospitals will continue to provide emergency services exclusively, with administrative offices and outpatient departments (OPDs) closed for the day.
Earlier, to mark the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWW), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially announced a three-day holiday.
The Eid Miladun Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), falls on Friday, September 5, 2025.
The moon of the Rabiul Awaal was not sighted on August 23, according to the Emirates Astronomical Center.
The month of Safar was completed with 30 days, and Rabiul Awwal officially began on August 25.
Based on this calculation, the 12th of Rabiul Awwal falls on September 5 this year.
Interestingly, this year represents an unusual difference in observance dates between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with the latter reporting the moon sighting a day earlier, putting Miladun Nabi on a different date.
