Punjab cabinet okays lifetime pension for employees’ widows

LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet meeting approved 1220 flats for industrial workers and lifelong pension to the widows of employees.

The 28th meeting of the provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Several important issues came under consideration in the meeting. Provincial ministers, advisors and special assistants, among others, attended the meeting.

The meeting approved the provision of flats for industrial workers in Punjab. Employees will get flats through lottery in Labor Complex Sundar, Kasur, Labor Colony Taxila. While the proposal to collect the price of the flats from the employees was rejected.

Approval of lease for telecom towers on government land was considered. The draft of the Child Labor Prevention Rules 2024 was also considered. And the proposal to lift the ban on recruitment in the Punjab Charity Commission was also under consideration.

The provincial cabinet approved the provision of lifelong pension to the widows of employees. An order was also given to establish a regular industry for prisoners in jails. A reward of Rs 50,000 each was announced for the rescue personnel who performed flood duty.

The Punjab cabinet also approved increasing the salary of the workers uniformly to Rs 40,000.
