Two teenagers swept away in Chenab River

SIALKOT: A teenager drowned and another was rescued while swimming in the vicinity of the Family Park area of the River Chenab at Head Marala in Sialkot, as per Rescue 1122 officials.

The tragedy happened when both boys were bathing in the river and drifted off into deep water all of a sudden. Sixteen-year-old Asghar Ali was rescued on time and taken to the hospital after being provided with first aid.

But the second youngster, Sharjeel, age 17, drowned after being dragged into deep water. Officials of the rescue department said Sharjeel was with his family, who had come from Narowal for a day outing.

Rescue 1122 divers have initiated a search operation to retrieve the missing teen.
