LAHORE: In a groundbreaking move, the Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched a new housing scheme, “Apna Zameen Apna Ghar” program to facilitate people across the province.
This scheme is a major step towards her vision of ” Housing for All. Under this scheme, poor and homeless individuals will be provided free 3 marla residential plots.
The initiative is being executed by the Punjab Housing & Town Planning Agency, with the Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering Department (HUD&PHED) serving as the administrative body.
According to the latest updates, around 1,892 plots will be provided across Punjab in the first phase, covering 19 districts in the initial rollout.
The scheme will cover several areas, including Attock, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Jhang, Jhelum, Kasur, Khushab, Layyah, Lodhran, Mandi Baha-ud-Din, Okara, Rajanpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Vehari.
According to the directives given by the CM, Maryam Nawaz, the free 3-marla residential plots will only be given to the eligible candidates. The eligibility criteria for the Apni Zameem Apna Ghar scheme include that the individual must be a permanent resident of Punjab (as per CNIC).
The application is allowed only within the applicant’s home district. Applicant, spouse, or dependent children must not own property in Pakistan. Must have a clean criminal record. Not a defaulter of any bank or financial institution. All provided information must be accurate; false claims lead to disqualification.
