LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that the provincial govt will launch a “minority card” for deserving minority families across the province on December 20, 2024.
CM Maryam Nawaz announced the initiative while addressing a ceremony related to the Hindu festival Diwali in Lahore today. CM arrived at the ceremony to light Diwali lamps — a tradition that symbolized the hope for a bright and prosperous future.
Wishing a happy Diwali to the Hindu community, the chief minister announced that under the minority card scheme, all eligible families will get Rs10,500 per quarter.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz also announced Rs15000 per family for 1400 Hindu families as a gift on the occasion of Diwali.
She also assured the security of minorities in the province and announced the formation of a Minority Virtual Police Station. She further urged people from minority communities to contact police immediately if someone tries to hurt them.
On the occasion of Diwali, Maryam Nawaz also announced the development of streets and roads in the minority neighborhoods.
During the ceremony, she announced writing a letter to the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab for joint efforts to eradicate smog.
