LAHORE: In a ground breaking development, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced to launch of Pakistan’s first-ever Minority Card, a program meant to benefit financially weak members of the minority community.

By this innovative strategy, the erstwhile shall be given financial help every third month, giving them the ability to such to sustain their selves without the help of others.

Maryam Nawaz made this announcement during a Christmas ceremony at Lahore’s largest church, House of Prayer, where she highlighted her commitment to providing whatever financial aid possible to help the minority community.

In addressing the gathering, Maryam Nawaz called on the spirit of the state to match up to that of a mother, so that she, as their Chief Minister, could feel like a mother to them.

A mother would never expect a discrimination between her children. There is no difference in my heart and mind based on religions. Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, and people of all other religions are the pride of my life.

She meant that it was her responsibility to look after the protection and development of the people of Punjab, saying she is doing the utmost to help them. Maryam Nawaz raised the viewpoint that both minorities and majorities are equal, and that every project undertaken by the Punjab government is attended by participation from all the communities.

Introduction of Minority Card is a big step toward an inclusive society. Maryam Nawaz has mentioned that she has her special attention focused on the Christian community; the budget for the Christian community has been increased by 200 percent, and she said that if it were her will, she would increase it further: “If it were up to me, I would increase the budget by 5000, for it is their right and not a favor.”

This expression of support for the minority community magnifies Maryam Nawaz’s omnipresent commitment to addressing issues pertaining to equality and inclusion.

However, she also stressed that her office, her heart, and her home doors are always open to the minority community: “Anyone causing damage or hurt to them is causing me pain in the very same. Everyone needs to ensure that the minority community is respected, cared, and protected.”
