ISLAMABAD: Christmas in Pakistan is a significant occasion for the country’s Christian community, which makes up about 1.5% of the population. Although Pakistan is an Islamic republic, Christmas is still a public holiday, and it’s observed on December 25th every year.
In Pakistan, Christmas preparations begin at the start of December, with many Christians decorating their homes, buying new clothes, and preparing special meals. Some families also attend church services, participate in carol singing, and engage in charitable activities.
On Christmas Eve, many Christians gather at church for midnight mass, and then return home to celebrate with their families. The next day, Christmas Day, is a time for feasting, gift-giving, and merriment. Many Christians in Pakistan also observe the holiday by attending church services, singing carols, and spending time with their loved ones.
One of the unique aspects of Christmas in Pakistan is the way it’s celebrated in different parts of the country. In Lahore, for example, there’s a large Christmas procession that takes place on Christmas Day, which is attended by thousands of people.
In Karachi, there are many Christmas markets and fairs that take place during the holiday season, where people can buy gifts, try traditional foods, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Overall, Christmas in Pakistan is a time for joy, celebration, and community, and it’s a holiday that’s observed with great enthusiasm and fervor by the country’s Christian community.
