Punjab declares kite flying, manufacturing non-bailable offense

LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has announced significant amendments to the Kite Flying (Prohibition) Act of 2007, approved by the Punjab Cabinet. The revised law classifies kite flying, manufacturing, and transportation as non-bailable offenses.

The Punjab home department has directed to take strict measures against the people either manufacturing or flying kites, ensuring that others get the legal punishment.

Moreover, the administrations are directed to give legal punishments and fines for the people who do not follow the rules. Heavy fines and penalties will be charged to the culprits.

Legal Punishments against kite flying:

1- 3-5 years imprisonment and/or PKR 2 million fine for kite flying and related activities

2- 5-7 years imprisonment and/or PKR 5 million fine for kite manufacturing and transportation

Additional imprisonment for non-payment of fines

Minors will receive a warning for the first offense, followed by fines of PKR 50,000 and PKR 100,000 for subsequent violations.

Every year several people die due to kite flying in Pakistan, these stricter penalties aim to eliminate the dangerous practice of kite flying, which poses a threat to human life and safety.
