LAHORE: On Tuesday, August 20 the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that the pilot phase of the school meal program will begin in southern Punjab on September 5, with plans to expand it to other cities, including Lahore.
This initiative aims to address nutritional deficiencies by providing milk packets to students from nursery through fifth grade, the Chief Minister stated during a ceremony honoring top achievers from the Punjab Boards.
Maryam Nawaz also noted that among the 138 top students from nine boards in Punjab, 70 are girls and 68 are boys, expressing confidence that these students will bring pride to Pakistan on the global stage.
During the ceremony, CM Maryam became teary after seeing such a success rate of girls and ensured to provide quality education to the students.
Moreover, she also announced a Laptop scheme for students to improve their digital capabilities.
Earlier this month, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat revealed that the School Meal Program would start in September, initially in three districts of South Punjab.
