LAHORE: The Punjab government has reduced transport fares across the province by Rs30 to Rs70 after a recent decrease in petroleum product prices.

Giving credit to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provincial information minister Uzma Bukhari, announced the drop in transport fares, and said that govt is actively ensuring fare reductions whenever fuel prices drop.

Azma Bukhari added that Punjab is the only province that has implemented transport fare reductions following the decrease in fuel prices.

Following the directives of CM Maryam Nawaz, the fare reduction has been implemented immediately and district administration is actively administering fare schedules at all bus terminals.

Rawalpindi fare reduced

Earlier, Secretary of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Rawalpindi, Arshad Ali, announced that a 10% fare reduction has been implemented on several routes, with minimum fares now set at Rs40.

The fare reduction extends to intercity routes, including those between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and nearby areas including Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, and Taxila.

Punjab info minister called for strict action against transporters charging higher fares. “It is our responsibility to ensure the benefits of lower petrol and diesel prices reach passengers,” she said.
