LAHORE: The Punjab Social Welfare Department has introduced a new mobile application titled “Assistive Devices and Wheelchair” to facilitate persons with disabilities, which will help them in applying for mobility aids and assistive devices while sitting at home.
The initiative, launched under the Digital Vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, ensures that assistive equipment — including wheelchairs — is now available with one click at citizens’ doorsteps.
Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Sohail Shaukat Butt launched the app, saying that this initiative will facilitate and streamline the process of providing assistive devices across Punjab. Now, persons with disabilities can directly apply for wheelchairs and other support equipment through the app without visiting any government office.
The application can be downloaded at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adwc&hl=en, or by searching “Assistive Devices and Wheelchair” in the Google Play Store.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt said, “Empowering persons with disabilities through digital technology is our mission.
We are committed to providing them with all possible facilities and inclusion through innovative solutions at the Punjab government level.
He added that the mobile application will also facilitate field officers to efficiently register, process, and monitor applications. It has been directed by the Social Welfare Department that all field officers should download the application and create public awareness about the new service.
