LAHORE: The Punjab Police wants to purchase 11 high-end vehicles to protect Anti-Terrorism Court judges because of increasing security threats against judges.
The authorities believe that security threats against the judiciary have been growing. Dr. Usman Anwar, IGP Punjab, submitted a summary to the Chief Minister of Punjab for his approval.
The Haval H6 PHEV model has a price of approximately Rs. 12.895 million. The cost of bullet-proof modifications for each vehicle amounts to Rs. 8.8 million. The overall expense reaches Rs. 238.645 million.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Security Division Lahore, protects both ATC judges and foreign dignitaries and essential government facilities. He emphasized that these vehicles require immediate acquisition to enhance security operations.
The police requested funding through a supplementary grant, which they needed during the current fiscal year 2025-26. The officials confirmed that the vehicles will provide secure transportation for judges while safeguarding the judiciary against possible attacks.
