QUETTA: The news about the martyrdom of Ziarat Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal and his son were false, as the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfaraz Bugti, clarified on Tuesday.
Reports emerged on Sunday claiming the martyrdom of Ziarat assistant commissioner and his son, who were abducted nearly a month ago.
Addressing the Balochistan Assembly session, the chief minister clarified that he had tweeted after receiving initial reports, but the report was later not confirmed.
“We even conducted a forensic analysis of the photo,” CM Bugti added.
Earlier, the news of Assistant Commissioner Ziarat Muhammad Afzal, along with his son, who were kidnapped a month ago, was that they were killed by their abductors on Sunday.
The remain of both dead bodies recovered was another person.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Sarfaraz Bugti, condemned the heinous act, saying that the AC laid down his life fulfilling his duties.
“Those who kill innocent people and disrupt peace will not escape their fate,” he said in a statement.
CM Bugti went on to praise Afzal as a loyal, industrious, and skilled officer, emphasizing that his sacrifice for the nation will be remembered. He also sent his profound sympathies and compassion to the deceased’s family.
The incident was described as “cowardly and brutal” by the chief minister, who underscored that such actions can never be condemned enough.
