LAHORE: The government of Punjab has issued an order to scrap the policies related to Rule 17, which allowed employment to the spouse or child of the deceased government.
As per the reports, the provincial government has directed all departments to remove Rule 17-A from the employment regulations related to employees.
The Punjab Government Servant Appointment and Conditions of Service Rules, 1974 have been amended and the notification states that any reference to Rule 17-A shall no longer be recognised.
According to Rule 17-A, the Government was bound to provide employment to the spouse of one of the children in case of death of a government servant.
After the termination of this rule, such provisions will no longer be possible.
