School Education Department changes weekly holiday

ISLAMABAD: School Education Department weekend holidays have been officially cancelled as the department has decided to keep its offices open on Saturdays and Sundays as well.

According to City 42, the Secretary of the School Education Department, on the condition of anonymity, withdrew the weekly holidays availed by office staff. According to the new order, all offices will now remain open during the whole week.

It has issued instructions to its subordinate institutions to follow the new working schedule. The department has formally communicated the decision to the heads of 10 attached departments.

The orders apply to all DPIs, the Children’s Library Complex, PEMA, and PACTA. These institutions have been directed to make sure that staff are present even on weekends.

Officials said that PACTA and PEMA would brief the Secretary of School Education about weekend working arrangements and performance matters.

He has instructed subordinate departments on the issue personally, with increased monitoring and efficiency. It is a major administrative policy change in the weekend holidays of the School Education Department.
