Sehat Card Plus 2025: Check your eligibility for free healthcare services

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched the Sehat Card Plus initiative in an effort to ensure that all residents of the province have access to healthcare, offering free outpatient department (OPD) services in hospitals.

In a ceremony attended by his cabinet members, lawmakers and health department representatives, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur formally launched the program.

After being introduced as a pilot project in Mardan in the second phase, the free OPD service will be extended to Malakand and Kohat districts.

Sehat Card Plus will provide free medicines, tests and other medical treatments. In partnership with German group KfW, the pilot project is being launched and will be further developed.

What is Sehat Card Plus?

According to the KP government, Sehat Card Plus is a micro-health insurance program for all citizens of the province. “This is one of the flagship programs of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The program is being implemented through an insurance company selected through a national competitive bidding.

The government said that under this program, more than 7.2 million families of KP are getting free in-patient healthcare services. The data of beneficiary families is obtained from NADRA.

“The services are offered completely free to the beneficiaries without any out-of-pocket payment up to a maximum limit of Rs. 1.0 million per family per year. The annual cost of the program is about Rs. 18 billion.

The services are provided to the beneficiaries through a panel of contracted government and private hospitals across the province. All secondary healthcare diseases and secondary care diseases such as accident and emergency, diabetes, kidney diseases including dialysis and kidney transplant, hepatitis B and C, all types of cancer and heart and vascular diseases are covered under this program.

All permanent residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa registered with NADRA are covered under the permanent residency program.

If you are carrying a CNIC/Form B with a permanent address, you are automatically enrolled. However, if your family status is not clear in the NADRA database, you will not be eligible until you resolve the issue with NADRA.
