Senior female journalist Anila Shaheen dies of brain haemorrhage

PESHAWAR: Anila Shaheen, a senior journalist from Peshawar known for her unwavering struggle for journalists’ rights, passed away on Thursday after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
According to the President Peshawar Press Club, the funeral of the deceased will be offered today (Thursday) at 3:00 p.m at Chamkani in her ancestral village Aziz Abad on Inqalab road.
The cabinet and governing body of Peshawar Press Club have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the untimely demise of Anila Shaheen.
“Late Anila Shaheen was a fearless, principled and professional journalist whose journalistic services will be remembered for a long time,” commented M. Riaz, President PPC.
In his condolence message, M. Riaz said Anila remained active for the rights and interests of working journalists in other positions, including the unique honor of being elected General Secretary of the Khyber Union of Journalists, the representative organization of working journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Anila continued to represent journalists effectively by serving in various important positions at the Peshawar Press Club, the highest institution of journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The untimely passing of Anila Shaheen has left the journalist community of Peshawar deeply saddened and in profound grief.
