ISLAMABAD: The issue of journalists being prevented from covering the hearing of the cases of the founder of PTI in the Supreme Court has come to light.
According to the details, before the hearing, police personnel prevented journalists present in the court premises from entering the courtroom, on which the journalists protested strongly. The journalists asked the police whether they would not be allowed to cover the cases?
On this occasion, the journalists maintained that they were Supreme Court beat reporters and reporting on the court proceedings was their professional responsibility. However, the police personnel clearly said that “whoever you are, you cannot enter the courtroom.”
It should be remembered that the cases of the founder of PTI are to be heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Hashim Kakar.
The incident of preventing journalists from entering the courtroom has raised new questions regarding the transparency of the court proceedings and media access.
