LAHORE: Senior Politician and Former Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Manzoor Watto, passed away at the age of 86, according to family sources.
The funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered tomorrow (December 17) at 2 pm at Haveli Wasave Wala, Okara.
Mian Manzoor Wattoo also served as the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
His death is being mourned by the President and other political leaders.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo was active in national politics for a long time and served in several important political positions, including as Chief Minister of Punjab.
He was known as an experienced politician and a strong political figure.
A large number of political figures, workers and citizens are expected to attend the funeral prayers.
Mian Manzoor Wattoo, who belonged to the Pakistan People’s Party, was a big name in Pakistani politics. He held the positions of Chief Minister of Punjab, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Khan Wattoo started his political career by contesting elections as an independent.
Earlier, in 1977, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave him a PPP ticket, but later this ticket was taken away from him and given to Ghulam Muhammad Maneka, upon which Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo contested this election as an independent and lost.
