ISLAMABAD: The seven National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) officers, booked for misusing their authority and accepting bribes, have resigned from their posts.
According to the sources, the resignation letters of NCCIA officials were sent to the Ministry of Interior two days ago. The Interior Ministry has not yet approved these resignations.
As per the details, a case was registered against nine individuals, including eight NCCIA officials, with the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore for accepting bribes.
The first information report (FIR) was lodged on the complaint of Aroob Jatoi, the wife of YouTuber Saadur Rehman alias Ducky Bhai, who was arrested in a case about promoting gambling apps on social media.
Earlier this week, a Lahore judicial magistrate awarded three days of physical remand to seven NCCIA officials and a private individual in the aforementioned case.
The remand order stated that the initial allegation involved a bribe of Rs 9 million, but the investigation authorities recovered Rs 42.5 million.
Seven arrested officers include the Additional Director, the Deputy Director, the Assistant Directors, and the Sub-Inspectors.
