LAHORE: Solar panel and solar system prices have witnessed a sharp increase in Lahore, with the cost of residential and commercial solar installations rising significantly over the past few days.

According to market sources, prices of solar systems ranging from 5kW to 15kW have increased by Rs150,000 to Rs200,000, adding to the financial burden on consumers planning to switch to solar energy.

The price of a 5kW solar system has increased by approximately Rs150,000, taking the total cost to around Rs650,000. Similarly, the price of a 7kW system has risen by about Rs200,000 and is now being sold for around Rs825,000.

A 10kW solar system, previously available for around Rs900,000, is now being offered at approximately Rs1.1 million. The price of a 12kW system has also increased by around Rs200,000, reaching nearly Rs1.25 million.

Meanwhile, the cost of a 15kW solar system has climbed to approximately Rs1.45 million, compared to around Rs1.3 million previously.

Traders attribute the increase to changing market dynamics, higher import costs and growing demand for alternative energy solutions. Consumers and businesses looking to install solar systems are expressing concern over the sudden rise in prices.

Market analysts say the latest increase could affect the pace of solar adoption, particularly among middle-income households seeking relief from rising electricity costs.
