Solar systems to be introduced in KP’s schools, mosques; Details inside

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to shift 1,100 schools and 3,050 mosques to solar energy. Various business centers in the region will utilize solar energy to do their day-to-day work.

Specifically, 900 mosques and other worship places have already been shifted to solar energy, generating 1.73 Megawatt electricity daily.

Member of the National Assembly, Haji Iqbal Afridi, acknowledged that all promises made to the public will be fulfilled.

These initiatives are to improve the quality of life and use renewable resources to overcome power supply challenges faced by the tribes in the past.

Moreover, he stated these measures will be discussed in a meeting to determine the overall success of current and ongoing solar electrification projects in the KP districts, supervised by PEDO, a subsidiary of the KP’s Department of Energy and Power.

Furthermore, a significant meeting was held under the Energy and Power Department Secretory Nisar Ahmad Khan. Nominated focal persons representing all the elected members of the national and provincial assemblies from the Khyber district.

PEDO chief executive engineer Riaz Ahmad Jan, the Energy Department Chief Planning Officer Dr.Mohammad Kashif Khan, the Solar Energy Project Director Engineer Afsand Yar Khan, and NRTC representative Aamir Afridi, also attended the meeting
During the discussion, Khan announced the three major solar energy projects are currently ongoing in KPK district.
