ISLAMABAD: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has foreseen the tentative date of the sighting of the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal 1447 AH.
The moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal would be visible on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:06 am, according to a Suparco spokesperson. The new moon‘s age at sunset on August 24 would be around 32 hours and 13 minutes, the commission added.
In addition, the Suparco spokesperson informed that in coastal regions, the sunset to moonset interval will be about 45 minutes.
The statement further added, “If the weather is good, there is a high possibility of viewing the moon on the night of August 24.”
The first date of Rabi-ul-Awwal will probably be on August 25, 2025, Suparco says. Muslims across the globe observe the birthday of the final Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), or Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
A public holiday will be declared by the government on Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The day begins with 31 and 21 gun salutes in the federal and provincial capitals, respectively, as tributes to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The buildings, shrines, and mosques in the nation are adorned with lights, while special prayers are said for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the nation.
