Over 2,800 Punjab Health facilities named after Maryam Nawaz following new 2025 Healthcare Law

LAHORE: 2,816 primary health facilities in Punjab have been officially named after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

According to the official website of the Punjab Health and Population Department, there are a total of 2,500 primary health units (BHUs) and 316 rural health centers (RHCs) in Punjab.

According to the official website of the department, it has been found that so far 1,138 BHUs and 81 RHCs have been named after the Punjab Chief Minister. The information and lists can be viewed.

On July 8, a new law was gazetted in Punjab called the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Services Act 2025. Among other measures, the law directs the establishment of Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics in every union council, either by upgrading existing facilities or constructing new ones.

The law further directs the Health Department to ensure the establishment of Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics to provide pediatric, dental care, gynecological, surgical facilities and other medical services, either by upgrading existing facilities or by constructing new centers.
