LAHORE: The Lahore City Traffic Police has introduced a complete traffic management plan for the coming New Year’s celebrations to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.
Based on the directions of CTO Lahore, Dr. Athar Waheed, final arrangements have been made to mobilize 20 DSPs and over 1,400 inspectors and traffic wardens under the surveillance of the zonal and divisional officers. Additionally, the administrative staff performs duties related to traffic.
According to traffic police officials, additional force members have been deployed on major roads, crossing points, and flyovers, including Azadi Flyover, Liberty Crossing, Defense Main Boulevard, Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, and Main Boulevard in Gulberg.
Particular care has been taken to ensure entry and exit points on Mall Road to avoid traffic congestion during peak hours.
Also, the Traffic Response Unit will be on high alert all night to address matters such as improper parking and traffic congestion to ensure that the flow of vehicles is not interrupted.
The CTO, Dr. Athar Waheed, has directed that clear-cut legal action be taken against those found involved in causing road blockages, rash driving, drift racing, one-wheeling, and stunt performances.
The violators will be caught through the surveillance cameras installed by the ‘Safe City’, and a case will be filed against them.
Dr. Waheed also appealed to parents to closely monitor their children during New Year celebrations, as motorcycles driven by minors will be confiscated immediately in an effort to avoid any untoward incident.
