Pakistani Ambassador
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has termed the US-Iran ceasefire a victory of diplomacy and dialogue.
Pakistani Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, in an interview with American broadcaster CNN, discussed Pakistan’s positive role and diplomatic efforts regarding the US-Iran ceasefire.
The Pakistani Ambassador said that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts had been going on for the past few weeks, and these efforts ended with the announcement of a successful ceasefire and negotiations. This is a victory of diplomacy and dialogue. Pakistan has always preferred positive diplomacy in its history.
He thanked the parties for their trust in Pakistan and said that he is grateful to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, China and all other countries for making diplomacy successful. Their joint efforts led to the ceasefire and paved the way for negotiations.
The Pakistani ambassador said that China has urged the parties to adopt the path of restraint and diplomacy from day one, the country’s top leadership played a direct role in diplomatic efforts, the success of the negotiation process requires confidentiality, and the possibility of the negotiation process being decisive without any pressure will prevail.
He said that the decision-making authority lies with the parties concerned, Pakistan is just a facilitator, we are trying with all sincerity.
He said that Pakistan has long-standing relations with the Gulf countries, about 5.5 million Pakistanis live in the Gulf states, consultations with the Gulf top leadership continued during the diplomatic efforts and ceasefire process, we hope that this humble and sincere effort will prove fruitful.
The Pakistani ambassador clarified that peace and stability in the region will have a positive impact not only on the Gulf but also on the politics and economy of the whole world.
