ISLAMABAD: The first total lunar eclipse of 2026, commonly known as the ‘blood moon’, will take place on March 3 and will be partially visible in various cities of Pakistan.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has confirmed that it will be an unusual and fascinating astronomical spectacle, while the next total lunar eclipse is not expected before December 31, 2028.
According to the Meteorological Department, the eclipse will begin at 1:44 pm, while the moon will enter the penumbra of the Earth at 2:50 pm. The total eclipse phase will begin at 4:05 pm and will peak at 4:34 am, when a unique scene will be visible in the sky.
The total eclipse phase will begin at 5:03 PM, while the entire process will be completed at 7:23 PM. Experts have advised citizens to choose a place with clear skies for better viewing, and if possible, use binoculars or a suitable filter.
This lunar eclipse will be visible in Pakistan, Asia, Australia, North and South America, and other regions of the world.
