MIRPUR: Pakistan spinner Noman Ali created history during the first Test against the Bangladesh national cricket team by becoming the oldest player to complete 100 wickets in Test cricket.

The left-arm spinner reached the milestone after dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz during the match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

At the age of 39 years and 217 days, Noman Ali surpassed a 130-year-old record previously held by former England spinner Bobby Peel, who had achieved the feat in 1896 at the age of 39 years and 180 days.

Noman Ali reached the landmark in his 22nd Test match, becoming the ninth Pakistani spinner and the 21st Pakistani bowler overall to claim 100 Test wickets.

The spinner also played a key role in Bangladesh’s second innings by taking three important wickets, including those of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Taijul Islam.

With the achievement, Noman Ali has also become the joint fourth-fastest Pakistani bowler and the third-fastest Pakistani spinner to complete 100 wickets in Test cricket.
