DUBAI: The Indian team’s stubbornness continued at the behest of the Indian board as the  team refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi.

Due to the Indian team’s stubbornness, the final ceremony at the Dubai Cricket Stadium was delayed.

However, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi also stood by his decision, and the Indian team could not receive the trophy from anyone else at the ceremony.

The BCCI officially informed the ACC that it would not be receiving the trophy, and the trophy was recalled from the field.

The host of the ceremony, Simon Doll, said that he had been informed by the Asian Cricket Council that the Indian team would not receive the trophy today.

It should be noted that during the Asia Cup, the Indian team violated the sportsmanship spirit by neither shaking hands with the Pakistani team nor did the Indian captain take a picture with the Pakistani captain before the final.

Captain Surya Kumar Statement

After the final match of the Asia Cup T20, journalists asked Indian team captain Surya Yadav about the violations of sportsmanship spirit throughout the tournament.

When asked about the trophy, the Indian captain appeared evasive.

“We were never told anything about the trophy,” Yadav said. “It was a decision we took on the ground. I even saw the champions’ board come and go.”

Yadav said, “We played good cricket in the Asia Cup, but the trophy was not given to us. We felt the trophy in spirit.”

During the press conference, a Pakistani journalist asked the Indian captain about bringing politics into the game, not shaking hands with the Pakistani team, and violating the sportsman spirit throughout the tournament, but instead of answering, the Indian captain just dodged the question.

Indian media manager refused to take a question from a Pakistani journalist during the press conference.
